Rona Stern

Bio
       Contact

Rona Stern, born in 1984 in Tel Aviv, is a Berlin-based artist. Her artistic practice focuses on tracing the origins of the imagery that surrounds us, including decorative elements, historical references, and the abundance of commercial symbols saturating our public spaces.

Through her installations, Stern employs the syntax of marketing and commercial language to reshape these images and reconstruct the realm of the spectacular. In doing so, she dismantles the familiar and reinvents the monumental, offering viewers a fresh perspective on the imagery that surrounds us and the hidden layers they hide from within.

Stern graduated as a Meisterschüler (post-graduate studies) from HGB, Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, Germany, with the support of a 2-year DAAD German Academic Exchange Service scholarship. She holds a B.Ed. in Fine Arts from Hamidrasha School of Art, Beit Berl (2011), where she graduated with honors.
Stern has been invited to participate in multiple international artist-in-residence programs, including Tobacna 001 Culture Center in Ljubljana, Slovenia (2018); Meet Factory in Prague, Czech Republic (2017); Yarat Contemporary Art Space in Baku, Azerbaijan (2017); and Artist Unlimited in Bielefeld, Germany (2017). She is currently working on her first book.
